3 Piece and a Biscuit!

« on: April 29, 2010, 02:28:24 PM »

So Ive made the decision that I want a Sten. Question is what marker should I base it on.

98C would be cheap and quick. I could buy one and Engler will knock $50 off the cost..making it $450.

I could also go with the Phenom..which would be Englers first Sten Phenom. Id have the baller operation of the Phenom, but I wouldnt be able to do any modification to the grip if I wanted too.

Price difference,
$450 for the 98C
$900 for the Phenom

I would be putting an E-grip in it..hands down. After using Englers at Castle with the Egrip..I want one. Which would mean a double trigger is a must (as much as I hate it) Now bear in mind that the 98C E-grips are extremely finikiy and tend to break easy when you take them out.

Phenom would have it already.

So in essence

The $450 is for a base 98C with the Sten mod. Id have to spend an additional $120+ for a WAS or APE Egrip. (Id buy an APE..WAS = Fail) Then probably another $30 for a decent double trigger, and then probably another $60 for a Lapco 8 inch bigshot so that brings my total up to $660.

Tips? Comments? Help me out here.

98C RT is horrible. I ran that setup on my Thompson and it never worked. A5 and X7 RT's are good, but 98C is nasty

I'm not sure how your going to use this gun but mm is semi only. And the phenom is 100% mech in semi mode so If you want a egrip for semi use a 98/a5/x7 would probably be best.

That is a good point. With a decent double trigger and a APE board on a 98C I should be able to get a decent ROF on semi.

However I just thought of something. I should just buy the Sten Engler had on display at castle, then buy a Egrip for it later.

My thoughts.  Yeah it would be nice to have the Phenom, I just don't think it is worth that much.

I have a guy that I offered to trade my 88/45 tank and Tib Red dot for a 98C with Bigshot barrel, double trigger and cyclone. The 98 cant accept an Egrip though...Not sure what to do.
