BAN PIZZA!!!

« on: July 27, 2010, 09:23:07 PM »

Really bored at work.  Been working on this for three days now.  Not done yet, but close.  Did some mock ups of different ideas.  What's cool is I can measure things like center of gravity and weight.  So I can play around with milling to reduce the weight.

WIP Stock Tac 8 and magazine (part of it at least):

Kicking around a new Compensator Tip:

Kind of a Two-Tone Desert Eagle style, inspiration http://www.speedytoys.com/airsoft_guns/DeagleDualToneTrio.jpg:

How does it calculate the center of gravity? Do you tell it the exact dimensions and material that each piece is made of or does it just assume the whole this is solid and on material? Do you calculate the centroid for each piece and tell inventor?

From the dimensions it calculates volume.  You can pick the material for each part.  It has built in densities for materials.  From that it calculates mass.  Then from dimensions and mass it finds the center of gravity.  I can also find out how much weight the milling is cutting off.

Sweet. So I guess you just need to put the dimensions in as accurate as possible. Inventor sounds pretty sick. All the mechanicals at school rave about how great it is. I just know cad. Looks like I need to learn inventor.
