Feeling lucky punk?

« on: August 29, 2010, 02:29:55 AM »

Here are some more pictures (funny how some parts look rusty with the camera flash) I still can't get over the fact that I found one in this shape.    Its a SMG60 to SMG68 conversion done by the Tippmann factory specifically for Gene Wood of Damage Inc.  It was originally SMG60 #306.  Apparently the brass barrel was a one off custom job by Tippmann just for Gene as well.  I'm looking into that to see if thats true.  Still has the auto trigger and it came with 30 stripper clips.  Apparently the orange .68cal stripper clips are very desirable....

She sure is!  Need to find out how the dump pouches hooked up to the gun.  Going to have to make something up since I dont have the original.

I was told so and the seller is a well respected member of MCB.  If I have any issues, I have a 68 special I can cannibalize some parts off.  Those are pretty cheap and easy to come by as well.  You can get constant rate springs out of the McMaster Car catalog so that shouldn't be an issue if it breaks.

Couple things to remember...
From the breech back it's basically a 68 special, so if you need parts the valve assy is interchangeable.
You will wanna get a SIPHON'd co2 tank. They run on liquid co2.

Last, nice find! I just went through a 60 and it's a really neat marker! Enjoy!

Can you get siphoned tanks anywhere?  Any tank you get now has an anti-siphon line already installed correct?

Can't get them new as far as I know. New ones don't come with anti-siphon as they have to be matched to the ASA. I've seen guide somewhere on how to make a siphon tank. It requires a flexible line attached to the valve with a weight on the end. You might be able to buy one as many of them don't need to be hydroed under the two inch rule.

When you say siphoned you mean you want it to put liquid into the gun? I installed an anti siphoned tube in an old C02 take years ago. I thin you could do the same thin in reverse. Basically you take the valve out of a CO2 tank and screw it into your asa. Then you install the tube and bend it up word so that is would be pointing up when the gun is shoulder in the firing position. Then reinstall the valve on the tank. So to make it siphoned you would just turn the tube down instead of up. I would recommend you have a scuba shop or some one like that to take off and reinstall the valve.

Yes, it needs a siphoned CO2 tank.  The valves in tehse and in 68 Specials are emade to run on liquid CO2.  and yes again, that is exactly what you would do Smiley  Or if you run remote you dont' even need to match it to the gun, just make sure the tube reaches the bottom of the tank Smiley

What I did over thanksgiving break.
Tore apart the SMG68 and replaced the valve and the sear so it should be in top notch condition at the moment.  Put together another siphon tank so now I have two 7oz tanks and parts to make a third when I get another tank.  Tinkered with the parts SMG60s I have and the 68 special.  If I would get two hammers and receiver tubes, I could complete two more SMG60s.

But here is the let down.  The last paintball store/field in the area closed so I couldn't get air to do another test run with the new parts in the SMG68.  I even have paint for the SMG60....  All three local stores have closed in 1.5 years.  There is no longer anything within an hour driving distance.  I tired the local soda/beer distributor to see if I could get co2 from them since thats whats used in fountain machines in fast food stores. But they said they wouldn't because they didn't want to start doing that and get swamped.
