I can has automagz?

« on: July 10, 2008, 05:54:42 PM »

I bought my X7 in Feb '07 for the '07 scenario seaon to compliment my Automags. I went with the X7 because it was newer at the time and I loved the milsim looks. I played with it at at 5-6 scenario events last year and here's what I have to say...

Looks - Hands down the coolest looking milsim marker since the AT85. You can make this look like pretty much anything. I added a X36 stock, X36 handrail, Xshort mag, removed the pitcanny rails from the forgrip and put on an Apex. Basically it looks like a silenced G36C assault rifle. Also they really slimmed down the hopper profile, looks much more sleek from the A-5's hopper.

Performance - Not much bad to say here and a lot of good. It has a little less kick than an A-5, but still noticable. It does get pretty poor efficiency though. You'd be lucky to get 375 shots out of a 47ci/3000psi tank. On the other end, it has an upgraded cyclone over the A-5 and can shoot well on CO2. It's consistant and extremely reliable. I played a Black Hawk Down scenario last year for 8 hours with rain literally all day. I dragged this thing through the mud and soaked it in the rain all day and it never once even hiccupped. This thing can take a beating!

Cons - Weight. It IS ligher than my modded A5, and thats due to a magnesium reciever. Still, it is much heavier than most markers I have used. It is also large, this doesn't bother me as I knew when I bought it that I wanted milsim, and assault rifles are big.  Theya ren't perfect stock.  You'll want to polish the overspray off the inside of the recievers and polish the internals for the best stock performance.  A $300 should come with this already done imo.  Also the stock ratchet tends to strip out, definitely upgrade to an aftermarket aluminum one like the Tech T o

All in all, this is a fantastic marker for scenario players and woodsballers looking for a milsim 'feel' and a marker thats very durable. It is a little pricey but then, to mod an A5 to look like a stock X7 would cost even more.

I love the X7. Takes a good chunk of cash to get it up and running great but once you put the cash into it, it will be exactly like you want it looks/feel wish and will perform great for a long time!

I love my new X7! I still need to polish the internals though. Enhander told me that the blue SOS scrubbing pads will work well. Should I wet the pad first or scrub it dry?

The above will make polishing much easier, but if you're gonna use an SOS pad to do it yes wet it first. Just be prepared to put some elbow grease on it.

One thing to keep in mind...take the O-ring out before you polish the internals. (Theres an O-ring in the right receiver half, you can see it when you take the power tube out)

Also stay clear of where the barrel adaptor sits...if you take to much off there it could make taking off you barrel a pain...

Yea, we don't need that problem. Or like at MVP when I got my A-5A2 the barrel adapter was loose so when I used it on the Urban Assault field at MVP it fell out of the gun. . . thats when I bought a new one with an o-ring. You don't need to worry about anything Sun-Tzu. lol

yea, I bought a new barrel adapter about 4 or 5 months after I got it and replaced it. So the adapter should not be a problem at all along with everything else lol.

From my experience, the X7 is one of the most robust and rugged milsin markers on the market. For what the ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) has done for the real world military user, The X7 can be considered it's paintball equivalent because of how it can be changed to meet a wide range of tactical style games to game/ mission specific roles. I'm not able to feel the weight of it but I will say that it's handling is nice. Add in a responce trigger and a CAR stock with a vertical front grip and a red dot on a riser and you have the perfect marker for CQB games.
