3 Piece and a Biscuit!

Well, having played most of the day at AVP with the TPX I have gathered enough info to make a review.
The marker itself if a bit bigger than I imagined it to be. The grip has a nice feel to it and and balances out well. I put about 100 rounds total through it. One of the biggest design flaws is the magazine. For one, the paint stacks in in a zig zag formation. If its not loaded right, it will cause jams and chops like crazy. I eventually had to load 7 rounds as opposed to the 8 its supposed to hold. Also, unless you have alot of time on your hands, DO NOT TAKE APART THE MAGAZINE! I took one of mine apart to clean it and it took me over an hour to put it back together. Tippmann decided to follow suit with everything else they do and add a ton of springs inside of it. I was not a happy camper...
The gun was very consistant at the chrono, however it was chronoing very low. (230-250 FPS) This didnt seem to effect distance any. At one point I shot 3 rounds over the chrono and all of them chrono'd at 247 FPS.
Its not as much of a gas hog as I thought it would be. I averaged 3 1/2 mags off of a 12 gram (given thats not rapid firing the gun, i took my time with my shots...for 2 reasons..which ill explaine lower on down) At one point I got 4 mags off of one 12 gram. (This could be because my relief valve isnt set right..and that I was shooting 240)
Now heres the kicker...and it has to be something wrong with my TPX. I cant rapid fire it. Jackson and I tried to unload a mag as quick as possible and we both got drop-off when the 3rd shot was fired. So much so that it gun just quit firing. Some other guy that had a TPX came up and unloaded 2 mags as fast as he could with no issues. So it has to be a screw up in my gun. Im thinking it has something to do with the relief valve.
It is really accurate. At least I thought it was. Jackson and Dean shot it, you guys are more than welcome to chime in with your input.
Overall I was pleased. Other than the mags sucking at not being able to rapid fire (because of the RV and not wanting to waste paint) I was happy with it. Just need to iron out some issues. Im going to tinker with it and see if I can fix it. We'll see how it goes at NAM. If I dont like it, im gonna sell the TPX and either get a T8 or a few longbow mags. Not sure.
Rating: Right now Im going to give the TPX a 7/10

I really don't think the rapid fire issue is a relief valve related thing. It is one of two things: regulator recharge or CO2 freezing. Either your reg needs broken in (going to take a LOT of 12 grams!) or it needs tweaked/rebuilt/oiled. It just might be the CO2, no avoiding that. As to the other guy being able to rapid fire, he came over and with a fresh 12 gram, emptied two mags with the last few shots dropping off/not firing. At least when I did it, I remember some drop off after 4-5 shots and it quit firing by 6-7 shots. But we had been firing a bit, so the CO2 was pre-chilled.
Which is one of the biggest complaints I have with the TPX. The CO2 rotation you develop with the Tac 8 and multiple mags eliminates the drop off/freezing issue.
The staggered balls in the mags is a big complaint. Reloading is difficult at best on the field when trying to do 8 rounds. You can only fit 8 when aligned perfectly, which doesn't always happen on the field.
Accuracy seemed ok, but there may have been a bit of paint in the breach/barrel. Which is why I like the Tiberius barrel system. 1/4 turn and the barrel and breach can be fully cleaned. I didn't like the feel of the trigger though. It seemed to hang up a little right before firing which caused my aim to be thrown off a tad because I had to sort of jerk the trigger a bit harder. My Tac has a nice smooth trigger pull, no jerking.
I HATED the grip. The angle is all wrong. 45 is IMO the most ergonomic grip, it fits the angle of your hand when outstretched in the normal pistol firing stance. The TPX grip made the gun point to the ground. If anything, the grip should be angled back slightly more than 45 because you are always arching shots in paintball, not more towards vertical. And it is front heavy, pulling the barrel down more. Extremely poor ergonomics IMO. And the CO2 plug is far too small and far too tight to the barrel for anything but the smallest hands to effectively grab and turn when there is pressure still left in the 12 gram. They need to make it bigger.
7/10 is my rating as well. Good effort brought down by a few oversights in my opinion. On a budget though, it gives the Tiberius a good run for it's money. But if you want the best, stick with Tiberius. They did it a bit better.

I never actually ran with it, but I ran with Dean a couple missions when he had it. I watched a couple of the shots he made with it and the accuracy and distance on the stock barrel seemed pretty good. I watched him reload a couple mags on the field and it seemed to me like he was having a heck of a time getting them to stagger right. Just from what I saw at AVP, I think I will be sticking with Tiberius pistols, but the TPX seems like it's on the right track. If Tippmann fixes a few things small things I think they'd have a very nice gun, but the first gen TPX is just not where it needs to be to give the Tac8 a full run for it's money.
Stacked mag > Staggered mag!!!

So I just took it outside with a brand new Crossman 12 gram in it. I was able to unload 2 mags as fast as possible. Weird..maybe the weather conditions yesterday played a role in the 12 gram? Broke 1 ball..but it was a barrel break...no biggie.

yes, i really didn't like he staggered magazine. When I sht it in mission 3, I was right beside the other team, I could get shots off pretty quick and accuracy was pretty nice. The first five shots I took though were barrel breaks. . . . Over all though its not a bad gun, but like said above I think after a few kinks are fixed it will be amazing.

Just stumbled across the tpxog and found some useful info for you JJ. It seems a lot of people are having trouble with chopping issues when rapid firing. The fix is pretty simple:
"Read the manual, find out where the regulator is. Its the inner alan key at the velocity adjustment area. Put a CO cartridge in. Loosen off the regulator (left) until it begins to leak CO2. Tighten it again until the leaking stops completely. Put your ear to it (carefully) and check for small leaks. Now once you have figured its not leaking anymore turn up your fps to desired setting and you`re good to go."
There is about 6 or 7 guys that said this helped them with chopping and getting the gun to fire above 240 fps.

Well just put a 12 gram in and tested this out. It seems to have worked! I was able to rip 2 mags as fast as possible with no breaks or shoot-down!

Just gotta find out what its Chronoing at...My chrono doesnt seem to be too consistant for paintball markers. Didnt seem like it was shooting hot though, and the shots seem to have went a bit further than normal..so maybe I got it set perfect
